African Primitivism

Tuesday, 11 September 2012 - Sunday, 16 September 2012
Opening on Tuesday, September, 11th at 3PM

An ethnocentric word, an allusion to Modern Art... as we will propose to Art lovers to return to the shoks inspired by the aesthetical discovery of Tribal Art in the early 20th century.
Our selection of about thirty African ritual and ancient Art build up a great testimony of the freedom of shape, dismantling of perspective, blow-out of representation _ particularly the one of the Human Body_, shake-up of rythm, simplification of patterns; for African Art also has the capacity to push back the three-D limits.

Himalayan Masks, Wild Primitivism

Thursday, 13 September 2012 - Sunday, 16 September 2012
Opening on Thursday, September, 13th at 6PM

A theme in the form of a manifesto: let’s look at Tribal Art with new eyes!
This exhibition of about twenty masks will throw Art Lovers into a wild and unusual world, the one of the Art materials, the Expressionnist Art, the Art of distorting and excessiveness, leading us directly to what is fundamental.

Zoomorphisme

GALERIE ALAIN BOVIS 2007
Spirits from the bush or the forest, totemic animals, symbolic links between men and animals, lead to multiple representations. Masks, statues and ceremonial objects convey complete or partial representations, which often are entanglements of several animals or anthropo-zoomorphic combinations, and always give rise to new imaginary figures.
